Two things to ponder...
If ye [the disciples (verse one)] then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Luke 13:11
If Jesus called His own disciples "evil," are we any better than they were? Well, no. Of course not.
If they were considered evil and Christ's "heavenly Father" gave the "Holy Spirit to them that ask him..." (Acts Two for example), won't the same Father give the same Holy Spirit to those of us who are also "evil" that ask Him for it? Of course He does. The truth is, when we get born again, God freely gives His Holy Spirit to His children.
"That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." (Galatians 3:14)
"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:9)
