*Boaz was a rich land owner who lived in Bethlehem-Judah, Israel, around thirteen hundred years before the birth of The Saviour.  His story is recorded in The Book of Ruth which takes place during the time “the judges ruled”.  (Ruth 1:1)   Boaz, though much older, marries Ruth of Moab, and together have a son named Obed.

The New Testament points out that Boaz and Ruth are great-grandparents to King David; putting them in the lineage of The Lord Jesus Christ - who will return one day to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  (Revelation 19:11-16)

“And Salmon begat **Booz of Rachab; and **Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; …And Jesse begat David the king....”  (Matthew 1:5 and 6a)

 “...Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the son of God with power...by the resurrection from the dead….”  (Romans 1:3-4)

“A mighty man of wealth” (Ruth 2:1) who marries a Gentile bride, in many ways Boaz typifies or mirrors the Lord Jesus Christ.  Ruth, his Gentile wife, in front of the same mirror, typifies the Church - the body of Christ.

Since Boaz so closely resembles our Wonderful Saviour, in October 2002, our members were pleased to adopt his name for the name of our newly formed church...
