“Did You Miss it?”

“Did I miss what,” you ask?

“Did you miss it, in your reading?”

“What?”

“The two things that the Devil and his crowd hate more than anything else in the world; did you miss it when you were reading John’s Gospel?”

You won’t have to guess what they are. In fact, when push comes to shove, it becomes quite clear when you press your ear to the conversation in the courtroom.

After Jesus is turned into the authorities (John 18:1-18), do you know the first thing He is asked? Here it is in verse nineteen. Read it for yourself…

“The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.”

There it is in a nutshell “…his disciples…and…his doctrine….” In other words, the two main concerns of the Devil and his crowd are (I’m going to reverse the order for clarity) what someone believes: DOCTRINE and, secondly, who is following it: in this case, the DISCIPLES.

Simply stated—and make no mistake about it—the two things that matter most to God and the Devil are what someone believes and who is following it.

Think about it.
