Should We Pray For America?

Posted on January 10, 2011 at 10:40 AM

A Brother recently sent me a link that said we shouldn't pray for America.  If it's inevitable that America will fall–and, it is–should we quit praying for her?  Shouldn't we still obey Romans 13, like the Apostle Paul did, while waiting for our Saviour from Heaven?  In the face of Acts 12:3, didn't Peter say to "honour the king"?  Shouldn't we pray that she repents of her wickedness?  (I don't believe she will, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't pray for our nation and it's leaders, for no other reason, then they get saved). That's the CURE!!

Where do you read in the Bible that God commanded us NOT to pray?  He might've been mad with Israel, and told them their prayers wouldn't be heard.    But, it's foolish to tell CHRISTians –disciples of Christ that our STRENGTH, and present help (Psalms 46:1) is NOT praying.  Believers should pray and ask God to turn it around, if that's His will.  Or, in the same breath, PRAY THAT HE DESTROYS THE WHOLE THING. The sooner the better. (By the way, that's where you and I live, in America. So, if you pray that way, hold on to your seats.) Either way, PRAY!

This is the only country in the world that, from it's inception, has chosen God.  Even though, and I agree, TODAY, she has forsaken The Lord and His word, should we refuse to pray??   Is that the answer, stop praying?

Lord, d
estroy us if Ye will, but we ask Thee to, please, forgive us for sinning against Thee.  Save every American that will repent and believe on Thee through the Gospel.

In Jesus Name.  Amen.
