MY Babies.
Posted on 7 April, 2011 at 5:50 |
Recently, I was challenged, by a stranger—no less, over the subject, "When does life begin." So, I thought to answer it, publicly. Let's face it, I have nothing to hide, when it comes to believing what God said, in His Book. And, with your permission, I will attempt to explain my chart, in as few words as possible. The only reason I'm attempting to explain any of this is to try to be a help and a blessing to other Christian believers, who are, also, living in a world gone mad over this subject.
First of all, this is neither "poor exegesis," nor is it "eisogesis" (putting 'into' the text something that wasn't intended by the author)—like I was accused of doing, by this stranger. This is a subject that I became very interested in, when it became very personal to me, after my wife kept on losing baby after baby—MY babies, in her womb. For those that don't know, we LOST seven babies, on our way to having six live births (one was a set of twins, both twenty-one, today).
These were all PREnatal losses, so you could understand our concern. "Were we going to see our 'baby' again in Heaven?" "What does God say about this 'subject,' in the Bible?" "When 'DOES' life begin?" With these questions in hand and a trail of prenatal loss looming behind, at that point I was determined to get answers. And, by the grace of God, those answers would come from the BIBLE!!
Also, may I add, not everyone who has come up with an answer to these (type of) questions has a political or social AGENDA to follow. Like I said, mine was motivated by love—love for my offspring, my wife and my future family. Since I was already a preacher of the word of God, the rest, as they say, was easy. All I had to "do," at this point, was (to) get my instructions.
Someone can accuse me all they want of using eisogesis, but the truth is, this is the text that God gave me. John chapter three. Jesus said to an old Jewish Master, in Israel, named Nicodemus, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." After I read this, I thought to myself, "If you 'MUST' be born-again, then it stands to reason, you MUST be born.” And, according to the text, in front of me, one was PHYSICAL (birth), and the other SPIRITUAL (birth). Jesus brought it down to those terms, and so will I. If anyone has a problem with that, take it up with Him.
The thing that (I say) "throws it off" is that, at the end of life, everyone agrees, physical life ceases when someone’s spirit and soul leave their body. But, when physical life begins, the BODY forms, in the womb, until it is mature enough to be BORN and live and breathe on its own power. The question that comes in, here, is, "Is that body alive?" I say "YES!!" But, it is totally dependent on its mother to sustain that little life, in her womb. The next question is the hard one. "When does that little baby become a living soul?" Some believe, the moment it is conceived. I say, what Jesus said, "Ye MUST be born...." In order to be born AGAIN (spiritually), you must be born PHYSICALLY. Just that simple!
Just because I believe and teach the above truths, does not mean that I recommend abortion of any kind. If someone is so taken up with unclean spirits that they deem it necessary to destroy the very fruit of their own womb, they will have to bear that burden on their own and answer to the God of Heaven, for it. All I know, on a personal level, is that we—my wife and I—wanted ours.

Pastor Bob
I'd like to say...
Someone said to me recently that they don't want to believe this, because "it gives more ammunition to the abortion crowd."
Listen... if that's how shallow you are as far as believing what God showed you concerning TRUTH/truths from His word ...to be intimidated by the crowd because of what they might do with this knowledge... you better beg Him to give you some guts.
When I was studying this subject, abortion... or "the abortion issue..." was the last thing on my mind. I wanted my babies, and I wanted my babies to LIVE. The problem was that they kept on dying--dying in the womb. I studied this out because I wanted to know if we would ever see our babies again, in Heaven. Now, that I've studied this out, I have concluded, that because they are just F L E S H and not a living soul, yet, that (unlike a child that is born into this world and becomes a living soul and then dies~II Samuel 12:23; Romans 5:13) they won't be there. I don't say that to be mean or hateful (especially to my own flesh), I say it because of my Bible conviction. It's the same as saying that, if someone is of the age of accountability, and they die without the new birth, they WILL go to Hell for eternity, after they first hit the White Throne Judgment. Foolishness.
