REPENT

Posted on 7 September, 2022 at 15:00

No one needs the cure until they realize they are sick.

I heard my whole Christian life... "Jesus Christ is a Gentleman. HE WON'T FORCE HIMSELF ON YOU."

Well, in my opinion, it's NOT doing any works--good works, to gain Heaven. If we could do anything, why did Christ die. Scripture says that Christ died for our SINS.

I've maintained one thing, ever since I got saved (almost fifty years ago, in a month)... ...I REALIZED THAT I SINNED AGAINST THE CREATOR AND THAT JESUS WAS THE ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN. It sure wasn't my goodness. It sure wasn't my works.

As I began to read my Bible, I stumbled on a very important word. The word was repent. Repentance.

Well, obviously, AS A BELIEVER, I spent much time with this word. I couldn't count the times that I realized that I needed to repent of the sins in my hand. Too many.

Well, somewhere, early on, I was challenged by the Lordship crowd to look at those verses again. "I wasn't saved," they would explain, "because I was still sinning." Then they would continue... "I wasn't saved because Jesus said go and sin no more." Wait a minute. I was saved, BUT I STILL WAS SINNING. I guess (in their way of thinking, and now mine) I hadn't repented HARD enough.

The truth is, I had to learn about my salvation, sanctification and yielding.

To get saved, I turned from sin and self to Christ. Let's face it, I was a sinner and I needed to be Saved. (Doc always said "Repent of who you are." Who was I...? I was a sinner. It had nothing to do with what I was doing. It had to do with what I was. Again, who was I...? I was a sinner. ...As a believer, Romans six, seven and eight fit the bill perfectly.)

To be sanctified, I turn from sin and self to Christ, which leads to yielding. Am I yielding to Christ? ...Am I living my life for Him?

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Acts 17:30

But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. Acts 26:20

Listen, even though I am a Jew, the Gentiles are to turn from their wicked works and believe that God sent Jesus--THE ONLY CURE--to be their Saviour.
