For some reason, the best Christian books, articles, sites, ministries and parents still don’t have this matter straight in their thinking. Someone has to say something about this issue. And, it looks like, today, that someone is me!
“Yes, you! STOP it!!”
“Stop calling your child a ‘Child of the Devil.’”
“Pastor Bob, I don’t do that.”
“O, yes, you do.”
“No, I don’t!”
“Every time you call your child ‘Kid,’ yes you do!”
If you are a child of God, you are a Christian. Do you know what Jesus, The great Shepherd, calls those in His flock? He calls them, Sheep. (John chapter ten)
Let me ask you... tell me, when was the last time you heard that sheep gave birth to goats? You never heard that before. Why? The simple answer is that sheep don’t give birth to goats. Do you know what a goat, in Scripture, represents? You’re right, in type, a goat is a picture of a devil. Do you know what a goat gives birth to? Not a lamb; a kid. Do you realize, every time you call your precious little Lamb, “Kid,” you’ve called him or her a goat?
If you call your child “a kid,” in type, that means one of two things. You are not a child of God (because you are producing children of the Devil), or your child isn’t yet a believer. If you are a believer, surely you must love your little blessings. Psalms 128:1-6. I’m sure you desire what’s best for them, like you discovered spiritually what’s best for you and your soul. I’m sure you want them to join the Eternal family of God, like you did. ...You do, don't you...?
Do you remember His promise? “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:31) Remember this part... “and, thy house...?” Those words give an immediate promised blessing to all those who would call upon His name for Salvation. Are you praying for them to get saved? If you are, why are you hampering that holy birth with words of discouragement?
If you ask me, the best thing you can do for your child, today, SAVED or LOST, is STOP calling them “Kids.”
