Public Ministry
Ministry Of The Word Acts 6:4
The Lord has given every Born Again Believer and Bible believing church a two-fold ministry...
1. To reach a lost and dying world with the Gospel. (I Corinthians 15:1-8)
2. To train, and encourage others to do the same.
The only way this goal can be accomplished, is to make our ministry public. (Acts 20:20) We are to proclaim publically what we ourselves have already experienced personally.
The public ministry is just that. Public AND ministry.
Since God displayed His love publically (John 3:16), we are to do the same. We are to demonstrate the Gospel in a loving way; not compromise it, or water-it-down, but, proclaim His truth, in love.
Listen to what Paul said...
"And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power...." I Corinthians 2:4
Male or female, anyone who has believed the Gospel is called to God's service. In that sense, we are all in the ministry. And, in that sense, we are all to minister to man, of man’s greatest need. That need, of course, is Christ. By definition, a minister’s job is to help someone in distress - to minister to them. The truth is, before you and I were ever saved, we too needed help. Thankfully, someone ministered to us, and gave us just what we needed. Christ. Now it’s our turn to obey. Like them, we too are to “pass it on.” With that thought in mind, someone has aptly said, “I’m just one beggar, telling another beggar, where the bread is.” (John 6)
"Sinners are not the enemy, they are the victims."
If a lost Sinner dies and goes to Hell, Satan has won the war for their soul. You’d agree with that, wouldn’t you? Then why are so many street preachers these days preaching with no love, and no power. Rather than praying down Holy Ghost compassion for the Lost, some of these brethren choose to fight, argue, wrangle, call names, point fingers and make fun of them. I wonder, if that's how someone ministered to their soul, before they believed? Bashing and berating poor lost Sinners will get their attention alright, but at what cost? Don’t these Brothers know that a ministry that doesn’t minister is of little worth? Don’t they know that mean and hateful preaching methods are some of Satan’s choicest nails that seal the doom of unwary Sinners? Drawing a Sinner's attention away from Jesus and onto this type of preaching distracts them away from what really matters. (See, John 3:14) What really matters, according to Jesus, is the salvation of their soul. "For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36-37) That is the main issue for a lost sinner. Jesus put the emphasis where it belongs, and so should we. "For the Son of man is come to seek and save that which was lost." (Luke 19:10)
Even when we are preaching to very wicked people, our job is only to deliver the message, not bully them, or force it down their throats. It's not our place to convict or convince a sinner of sin. That job was issued two thousand years ago to The Holy Spirit. And, thankfully, back then, He answered that call. (John 16:7 to 11) The Lord has given us the ministry of reconciliation. (II Corinthians 5:18-21) Empowered with the fullness of God's Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), our job - yea, our calling - is to simply proclaim the gospel. (Mark 16:15)
Are there times to argue? Absolutely! I've personally done so, many times. The best way though is to show them, in a kind manner, that their ideas are wrong. Remember; we are God's ministers, trying to help lost Sinners - ready to be judged by an ANGRY God, to see their spiritual condition. Does a doctor sarcastically ridicule a patient he informs has a dreadful disease? Then, neither should we.
Are there times God leads us to preach a message that has nothing to do with salvation? Absolutely! But, remember, our main message should be to win the Lost to Jesus! (John 14:6)
Are there times to mock their ideas? Absolutely! But, be careful how you sow, dear friend, sooner or later, God might use those very same methods on you. (Galatians 6:7 and 8)
Saint Paul was willing to lay it all on the line, to win the lost, and so should we. (Romans 9:1-3; and 10:1. Please, see I Corinthians 9:10 to 23.) We are co-laborers with Christ. God has called us to MINISTER – to help the Lost see their greatest need. Salvation! Though some preachers may opt to use a BIG offensive hammer to deliver their message, I believe, most of the time, the still small voice of God's Holy Spirit will do that job, just fine.
"Restore unto me the JOY of thy salvation...and sinner's shall be converted unto thee." Psalms 51:12 and 13
To encourage believers to obey the Great Commission, we have included some pictures of this ministry. Whether you publicly preach, pass out tracts, go door-to-door, witness to someone on the checkout line, write a letter/send a card (with a tract in it), sing spiritual songs, feed someone, put on a puppet show, hold up a banner, or wear a scripture sign, do all you do for the glory of God. Be thankful He has saved you and called you, by His grace, into His Service — The Public Ministry.

Presumption: The Root of All False Accusation...
Street Preacher: (Seeing a girl wearing shorts, the preacher calls out…) “You’re a WHORE….”
The Sinner: “Oh…shut up!”
Street Preacher: “Didn’t you look in the mirror today? Don’t you know, you are wearing the attire of a harlot -YOU Whore!”
The Sinner: “I am not a whore. I just like the way I look in these clothes.”
Street Preacher: “You DUMB and STUPID whore!... Don’t you know those clothes show off your private parts, and God said,” (not quoting a verse) “‘only a whore would wear clothes like that!’”
The Sinner: “I hate you, and I don’t care what you have to say!”
Street Preacher: “Hey, you stupid whore,” (now putting the sinner on the level of a Christian) “God says, ‘to dress modestly’ - not like a whore - like you. Isaiah said, ‘Don’t show the thigh.’ If you show the thigh, you must be a whore! I see your belly button, too. Is that modest - you fool? Why don’t you stop sleeping around, and go home, and wash dishes… like my wife does.” (No Gospel, no compassion for her lost soul, and all presumption.)
According to Scripture (KJV - for those who need that designation), PRESUMPTION [PRE-ASSUMPTION] IS A BLATANT SIN!
“When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, [ie: the woman is really NOT a whore] that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” Deuteronomy 18:22
IF THAT WOMAN IS IN FACT A VIRGIN, YOU LIED AND BORE FALSE WITNESS. AND, YOUR PRESUMPTION BECAME A SIN.
“But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.” II Peter 2:10
If you say to someone [by way of example] , “You don't read the King James Bible, you listen to Christian Rock; ‘you're not saved.’” Isn’t that presumption? If you tell someone, “You're going to hell.” IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE THAT THAT PERSON IS UNSAVED, YOUR STATEMENT IS THE SIN OF PRESUMPTION (pre-assumption). IT IS A LIE. IT IS BEARING FALSE WITNESS, AND CLEARLY UNBIBLICAL, IN THAT IT BEARS FALSE WITNESS AGAINST THY NEIGHBOR. That’s what they did to Christ. (I’m not comparing the sinner to Christ, but the practical application still fits perfectly.)...
“For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.” Mark 14:56
WHY? BECAUSE THEIR WITNESSES WERE FALSE. THEY PRE-ASSUMED, OR PRESUMED.
As believers, we should be careful not to bear false witness against thy neighbor. Remember...
“A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.” Proverbs 25:18
“Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.” II Timothy 3:3
“The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things….” Titus 2:3
NOT EVEN THE ANGELS BRING RAILING ACCUSATIONS AGAINST WICKED SINNERS, WHEN THEY KNOW THE ACCUSATIONS ARE TRUE!
“But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.” II Peter 2:10 and 11
NOT EVEN SINLESS ANGELS BRING RAILING ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE WICKED DEVIL FOR WHAT THEY KNOW IS TRUE!
“Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.” Jude 9
ZACCHAEUS REPENTED OF FALSE ACCUSATIONS…
“And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.” Luke 19:8
JOHN THE BAPTIST COMMANDED THE SOLDIERS NOT TO FALSELY ACCUSE…
“And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.” Luke 3:14
The best policy is…
UNLESS WE ARE 1000% CERTAIN THAT A SINNER HAS COMMITTED A SIN, OR THAT A MAN IS LOST, OR THAT A WOMAN IS A WHORE, ETC..., WE ARE IN SIN TO ACCUSE THEM FALSELY. IF THEY ADMIT TO THEIR SIN, THEN, LET HER FLY!

"There is absolutely nothing wrong with ridiculing and making fun of other people's religion if their religion does not line up with the word of God (KJB 1611).... If you disagree, you should consult Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, Ezra, Nehemiah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, the Apostle Paul, Peter, etc." --Morgan Lester
I would say, as noted above, there is nothing wrong with making fun of false gods, because “we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.” (I Corinthians 8:4) But, Paul never attacked the unsaved people he was addressing.
He only accused them of what was true. Here are a few examples from his sermon, in Acts 17, on Mars’ hill…
“Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.” (Vs. 22)
“And the times” NOT the people, the TIMES “of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent….” (Vs. 30)
“And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.” (Vs. 32) Notice THEY mocked. It’s not our calling to mock unsaved people, as many do today. It’s our calling to minister unto them.
