Who is Boaz?
*Boaz was a rich land owner who lived in Bethlehem-Judah, Israel, around thirteen hundred years before the birth of the Saviour. His story is recorded in The Book of Ruth which takes place during the time “the judges ruled”. (Ruth 1:1) Though much older, Boaz marries Ruth of Moab and together have a son named Obed.
The New Testament reveals to us (in two places) that Boaz and Ruth are great-grandparents to King David; putting them in the lineage of The Lord Jesus Christ - who will return one day to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! (Revelation 19:11-16)
“And Salmon begat **Booz of Rachab; and **Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse; …And Jesse begat David the king....” (Matthew 1:5 and 6a)
“...Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; and declared to be the son of God with power...by the resurrection from the dead….” (Romans 1:3-4)
